Andrea,
Worth reading and plenty of exercises:
Kimon Nicolaides (1961), The Natural Way to Draw, Boston: Houghton
Mifflin
Sophisticated exercises, drawing upon various means we have for
responding to visual array, and can be adapted for children;
and for a different approach:
Betty Edwards (1993), Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, Harper
Collins.
The theory is a bit simplistic but the exercises are very effective with
children and adults alike! Particularly useful as a confidence booster
to begin with before you start on a more enriched approach drawing upon
Nicolaides.
Cheers
Jenny
