I have just been reading through the new HumanTissue Bill.
The marginal note to clause 49 is "Power to de-accession human remains".
The clause empowers places like the British Museum and Natural History
Museum to transfer items out of their collections.
I notice that "deaccession" was used as a verb in the terms of reference
of the Working Group on Human Remains but I am fairly sure that neither
"accession" nor "deaccession" is used as a verb anywhere else in the
Working Group's Report
Can anyone tell me if "accession" and "de-accession" are commonly (or,
indeed, ever) used as verbs among museum curators or librarians?
