What public money? Our council has none to spare!
The point is still serious, though. Ignoring totally the "abuse" aspects
the whole idea is both rather silly AND out of hand. 40 kids in the class
means a HUGE waste of resources by the nursery nurses who have to sort and
hand out 40 lots of 40 cards. And that's just the afternoon class. There
are 38 in the morning class, and zero overlap!
BUT the point is to illustrate the "nanny state gone mad".

Sorry Doreen, but this "fish" is getting bigger every time the stories told
- Tim's mail only mentioned a list of forenames for Christmas card purposes.
Way down here (in England home of the Rugby World Champions - sorry just had
to get that in - and it is Friday), our schools are run by the head teacher
and a governing body - the Council merely provides the resources to do this.
However, I get your point. Tim, make sure your wife reports herself for
wasting public money in this way. ;->

We don't print names in sports day programmes up here - goes by class but we
do have consent from parents to print photos or show videos etc.
My children have always known who their friends are ..might not have known
how to spell their names but whoever was invited - an invitation would be
given to them by my child. Sorry, our schools are run by the Council up
here and staff are certainly not paid to provide parents with lists of
childrens' names and addresses so that they can invite them to a party - our
CT papers would be up in arms if they thought such a thing was happening!!!
(I do say this with tongue in cheek!!)
