European Commission Conference on Mobile Communications: Health, Environment
and Exchanges of Best Practice between EU Member States
Brussels, Belgium
Striking the right balance between protecting public health and ensuring
access to the business, social, environmental and personal benefits of
mobile phones is not easy. This Conference on Mobile Communications: Health,
Environment and Exchanges of Best Practice between EU Member States should
help. It will assess the mix of health and safety regulations, voluntary
agreements and information campaigns already put in place by EU Member
States in the light of an emerging scientific consensus on health issues,
the need for sensible governance and risk communication. Organised by the
European Commission, European mobile operators (represented by the GSM
Association) and the European Mobile Manufacturers Forum, this open event
should interest all stakeholders, including regulators, mobile operators,
manufacturers and NGOs. Intended to showcase good practice, with many
opportunities for audience participation, it will include contributions from
the European Commission, natural and social scientists, industry and
government representatives, engineers and politicians.
