From Professor Tim Newburn

Dear Colleagues,
I would like to draw your attention to a conference being hosted by the
Mannheim Centre for Criminology at the LSE. The conference on THE
FUTURE OF POLICING will be held in London on 10th October 2003. The
speakers include: Sir Ian Blair (Deputy Commissioner, Metropolitan Police);
Professor Adam Crawford (Leeds); Commander Cressida Dick (Diversity
Directorate, Metropolitan Police); Dr Janet Foster (LSE); Peter Neyroud
(Chief Constable, Thames Valley); Denis O'Connor CBE (Chief Constable,
Surrey and First Vice-President, ACPO); Professor Robert Reiner (LSE); and
John Wadham (Deputy Chairman, Independent Police Complaints
Commission).
This timely and important conference also coincides with the launch of the
Handbook of Policing - a major new publication covering all major aspects of
policing (details can be found at: www.willanpublishing.co.uk/handbook.html
and a copy of the Handbook is included in the price of the conference).
I would be most grateful if you would forward this message and attachment
to any colleagues that you think might be interested in attending the
conference.
Many thanks
Tim Newburn
