I'm familiar - as many people are - with horrific news stories from the US
where, as a result of the three strikes legislation, people are being
sentenced to 40 years imprisonment without parole for stealing pizza.
Thankfully it appears that things aren't quite as bad as that here. But can
anyone think of a particular case (recently if possible, and relating to a
juvenile offender ideally) where a sentence has been excessive?
An example might be a six-month DTO for stealing a CD from a shop.
Any help / comments appreciated!
Thanks,
Steve Taylor
