I would find it useful if colleagues could let me know if they have any standardised assessment load on students for CE courses (and if so, what it is).
And how would you translate this into non-written formats, such as might be produced by practical arts or music courses?
What I'm interested in is the total assessment load on students. The QAA Code of Practice (http://www.qaa.ac.uk/public/COP/COPaosfinal/genprin.htm#saa) obliges us to ensure that the "amount of assessment [is] consistent with an effective and appropriate measurement ... of the learning outcomes" and advises us to consider "the exercise of due economy in the number of assessment tasks, and the possible advantages of combining the assessment of a number of cognate modules so as to avoid assessment overload"
