UACE Administration & Librarians' Conference 2003
7th - 9th April 2003, Lancaster University
2003 sees the 30th anniversary of the first annual conference of the UACE
Administration and Librarians' Network.
We invite you to join us at Lancaster University for the conference, which runs
from 7th - 9th April 2003.
The conference is open to anyone involved in any aspect of administration
and/or librarianship in continuing education/lifelong learning. In the past
few years, the conference has benefited greatly from the attendance and
involvement of clerical staff, and we will again particularly welcome
registrations from clerical staff.
The conference provides a unique opportunity to:
* Network with colleagues from other departments/centres of continuing
education and lifelong learning
* Learn about recent developments affecting the administration and
management of CE programmes
* Discuss important issues affecting and confronting the sector
* Share practice, expertise and concerns with colleagues from other
institutions.
A document pooling table will be available throughout duration of the
conference. This will display any marketing materials, student support
material, tutor support material, assessment forms, feedback forms, library
information etc that you are able to share. It would be helpful if this could
be sent to to us in advance: only one or two copies are needed as a request
form will be available for copies to be sent to you after the conference.
Highlights of the conference programme include
* Keynote speaker: Professor Peter Scott, Vice-Chancellor of Kingston
University and Chair of UACE
* Employment legislation and issues and implications for part-time tutors
(Daniel Vulliamy, Hull)
* SENDA - implications of the Special Educational Needs and Disability
Act 2001 (Rob Chapman, Leeds)
* Funding: fees and finance - including presentation of the results of a
national survey of CE fees (Sabah Tomah, Coventry)
* Measuring the benefits of Lifelong Learning (John Preston, Institute of
Education)
* 30th anniversary dinner
and much more!
