Hello,
For number crunching, the OS X Fortran 95 compilers from Absoft and
NAG are both good. I've used Absoft since OS X 10.0 came out, and I
started using NAG last month. I used NAG's demo (which is the real
thing except that it's usable for only 30 days) to compile the Lapack3
and Lapack95 source code without problems.
Absoft's compiler produces clickable programs (i.e., one can
double-click a program icon and a terminal window will pop-up). NAG's
requires one to open a terminal window and then type the program's
name in it.
Absoft's product costs 2-3 times as much as NAG's. Since most Mac
programs require upgrades every time Apple updates the OS, the
difference in cost can be significant.
