Ship Sheds in the Ancient Mediterranean
Department of Classics
The Department of Classics is looking for two Research Assistants to work
on a three-year collaborative project on Ship Sheds in the Ancient
Mediterranean, funded by a grant from The Leverhulme Trust.
The Project will be directed by Dr Boris Rankov and Dr Jari Pakkanen of the
Department of Classics and by Mr David Blackman, former Director of the
British School at Athens and currently Senior Research Fellow at the Centre
for the Study of Ancient Documents in the University of Oxford.
Research Assistant 1 (Ref:KB/4008) will be principally responsible for the
collection and analysis of the archaeological evidence for ship shed sites,
while Research Assistant 2 (Ref:KB/4009) will be principally responsible
for the computerised reconstruction of individual ship sheds. Both Research
assistants will be expected to contribute to the final publication of the
project, together with the Directors and a doctoral Research Student (Mr
Bjoern Loven) funded within the project, and will receive full
acknowledgement for any such contribution. All members of the project will
be expected to work as a team.
Salary will be in the range £20,399 - £29,473 inclusive of London
Allowance.

School of Conservation Sciences
£11,962 -£16,520 per annum
The School of Conservation Sciences is seeking a Researcher to join the AIP
Project team working with a wide range of external organisations, obtaining
and analysing data from archaeological investigations undertaken in England
during 2002. With a relevant degree and broad understanding of archaeology,
your demonstrated research and publication facility and field experience is
essential. A comprehensive knowledge of databases and word processing is
also required. You will also travel extensively throughout England, so a
clean driving licence is desirable.
