Research Assistant
Applications are invited for the position of Research Assistant for the
‘Script, Image and the Culture of Writing in the Ancient World’ project
of the Centre for the Study of Ancient Documents, funded by the Andrew
W. Mellon Foundation. The appointment will be for one year from 1
October 2003. Applicants must have experience in dealing with
inscriptional and/or papyrological evidence from the classical world.
Experience in working with electronic databases and digital images
would be advantageous.
The salary will be on the RSIA scale, currently £18,265 - £27,339.

As part of further expansion of its activities in the History of Medicine,
supported by a Wellcome Trust Enhancement Award, the School of Historical
Studies at Newcastle University is pleased to advertise
2 Masters Studentship Awards (stipend £9,000 plus EU-fees)
for Masters study in the field of Greek and Roman Medicine and its
Reception.
Applicants require a good degree result (1st or high 2:1) in
classics/classical studies/ancient history, or history, or archaeology, or
a related subject. Overseas candidates with equivalent qualifications are
also encouraged to apply.

qualifications, together with a brief outline (up to 200 words) of their
