Apologies for cross-postings.
The National Film Theatre in London is putting on two showings of Lars Von
Trier's Medea, which is seldom screened in this country and (I believe)
unavailable to buy. Details below:
Medea
Danish director Lars von Trier's free adaptation of Dreyer's unrealised
screenplay, inspired by Euripides' play, was made not (he said) as a 'Dreyer
film', but as an homage to the great film-maker. Von Trier transposes the
grim and barbaric Greek tragedy to Nordic Europe and makes a distinctly von
Trier film, but keeps faith with Dreyer's penchant for mysticism and
witchcraft and produces an authentic Dreyer heroine, oppressed by the
structures of power.

As I'm sure will be obvious, the words "free adaptation" suggest an
'interesting' rather than 'authentic to Euripides' version! But should be
worth watching.
