Dear WinBUGS users,
As of today a new web-site entitled "WinBUGS Development web-site" has gone
live (see the URL below). The site is designed to facilitate the
distribution of various (free) extensions of WinBUGS, such as the recently
developed "WinBUGS Development Interface" (WBDev), which, currently, allows
users to implement their own specialized functions by 'hard-wiring' them
into the software via compiled Pascal code -- this leads to simplified BUGS
syntax for the statistical model and to substantially shorter run-times,
since the length of time required to evaluate the likelihood is
significantly reduced. The home-page for the new web-site is:
http://homepages.tesco.net/~creeping_death/
If you currently run models involving complicated and/or untidy functions
then you will almost certainly benefit from them being 'packaged-up' as
optimized, 'black box' components within the WinBUGS core. The "WBDev"
interface has been designed to make the packaging process as simple as
possible for the user. If you are interested then please follow the
appropriate links and give the WBDev interface a try; I look forward to
receiving any feedback you can give me.
Best wishes to you all,
Dave Lunn
