Dear BUGSians:
I have a rather straight-forward BUGS model but for the need to perform an
integration. The problem itself samples from a joint bivariate normal
density of parameters describing a crack-growth-rate model. I need to know
the resulting fatigue lifetime, which is an integration of this model.
I have done the study in R with little difficulty, using R's "integrate"
function. I'd like to build on the R experience and use WinBUGS for
parameter estimation, although for now I'd be happy with a simple
forward-simulation in WinBUGS that samples from the joint density for model
parameters, then integrates the resulting simple linear model to get a
single-number fatigue lifetime. I'm interested in the probability density
of this lifetime.
I think I can approximate the integral using the WinBUGS "sum()" function.
Is there an alternative? Can anyone share a similar experience? (I was
unable to find a suggestion in the BUGS archives.) I'm using WinBUGS v1.4.
Many thanks in advance.
