The Blackboard Admin manual (p229)confirms Ben's suspicions.
Can anyone tell ME what is meant by "Active Course"in the Overall Summary of
Usage report? I've spent a pointless half hour doing every kind of activity,
short of standing on my head, to increase the number from 29 to 30 - with no
success at all. Just what is it counting here?

I think unfortunately every click is counted.
So simply moving around the content area is counted as multiple visits to
the
same area.
Though this is purely conjecture.
