As Julian said I do a section of on Biomimetics in a 4th year module on
Materials.
I used to give a series of lectures but as part of a drive towards,
ahem, 'student centerd learning'. I now only give them a taster lecture
or two and guide them through some research literature they choose for
themsleves.
Sounds good in theory and is for the better students but the poorer ones
need much more guidance that this.
Now that SARTOR is biting I'd expect the quality of the students to go
up.. but lets wait and see.[(for those that don't know SARTOR is an
'input standard' imposed on Engineering depts by the Engineering
Council, bless their cotton socks, ...which they've now seen fit to
abandon because their recruitment went through the floor, but I digress].
Its just an idea but how about at the next Biomimetics get together we
could discuss our efforts ?
Or should we just get to the bar earlier ... ?
I realise this is very parochial and of no interest to member son this
list outside the UK and I apologise for it.
