Dear All,
I am currently structuring a grant application aiming to establish
non-linear optimal solutions to laminated composite problems with a
significant biomimetic input.
The idea stems from my own research on non-linear shell optimisation.
The intention is to incorporate biomimetics in selecting the design
variables. The paper by Chen et al on the microstructure of an insect
cuticle and the strength of a preformed hole composite (Micron, v.33,
571-574) is forming the initial impetus. Reliability concepts will also
be incorporated through fuzzy logic.
The purpose of this email is to act as a partner search for a
co-investigator on the grant application. I would ask that if anyone is
interested in potentially contributing to the project (I appreciate that
detail is sketchy at best at the moment) with research in the
biomimetics of composites to contact me by email.
Many thanks, Peter Gosling.
