Call for Papers on Corinne (Madame de Staël, 1807)
Papers are solicited for the inaugural Chawton House Library/ Sheffield
Hallam
Corvey joint day-conference on Madame de Staël's Corinne, or Italy which
will
take place at The Institute of English Studies, Senate House, London on
Saturday 1st November.
We will be happy to consider proposals on all topics related to Corinne but
particularly welcome proposals for papers which consider issues of women's
authorship and publicity and also of the reception, influence and imitation
of
the text in France and England.
Conference contributors include Cora Kaplan (University of Southampton/
Chawton
House); Kate Davies (University of York) and Emma Francis (University of
Warwick).
Issue 2 of the Corvey Women's Writing journal will be based on
contributions to
this conference.
Proposals of no more than 500 words should be sent by 1st May, 2003 to:
