I've received enquiries for more detail on the Oxfordshire gradings and the
criteria used for them. Currently these are:
County Archivist: PR49-52
Senior Archivist: PR37-40
Head of Conservation: SO1 - initial discussions suggest this was a genuine
mistake, based on the managerial responsibilities of the post not being
filtered into the equation, but the post being seen as simply "Conservator".
The Head of Personnel has put in for the grading to be revised to SO2.
Archivists: SO1
Archive Assts & Receptionist: Scale 3
The Records Management Team are still under discussion, but there is an
obvious parallel between Records Manager and Archivist.
As for the criteria, we have yet to receive the points scored under the
various heads, but the areas covered are: knowledge; mental skills;
interpersonal/communication skills; physical skills; initiative and
independence; physical demands; mental demands; emotional demands;
responsibility for people; responsibility for supervision; responsibility
for financial resources; responsibility for physical resources; working
conditions. One we learn how we scored against these, and hence how the
posts are perceived by external analysts, I will post the information.
