Coming late to Clive Anderson's BBC Radio 4 programme Unreliable Evidence last night, I was in time to hear m'learned friend Cocklecarrot assert, apropos of a point in the debate
"...people used to be boiled alive for blasphemy."
Really ? Burning possibly, boiling, surely not ? At least not in the British Isles ?
Is this a demonstration of an unrivalled knowledge of world history and historical sources ... or an indication that the legal fraternity has rather lost touch with the past as well as the present .... ?
