Salary: £17,979 - £20, 391 pro rata
An opportunity for a qualified archivist to work with Ashmolean Museum in
cataloguing the personal papers of Sir John Evans 1823 - 1908, as part of
the A2A (Access to Archives) project "Private Faces in Public Places", which
also includes Godalming Museum, Royal Holloway (University of London), the
Royal Logistics Corps Museum, the Tolkien Society and the Watts Gallery.
This project aims to increase public access to, and improve the care of,
these wide ranging collections, creating new catalogues and making them
accessible through the A2A website hosted by the National Archives (PRO) at
www.a2a.pro.gov.uk. The project is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund,
the South East Museum, Library and Archive Council, the South East Regional
Archive Council and the National Archives.
You will be one of three archivists, the other two are based at Godalming
Museum. You will be offered training by the A2A team from the National
Archives.
Applicants should have: a relevant professional qualification; knowledge of
the requirements of ISAD (G); cataloguing experience including cataloguing
archives on computer. You need to be well organised and self-motivated and a
good communicator.
