ASSISTANT ARCHIVIST Ref. 111
£18,265 to £20,311 or £21,125 to £27,339 pa
Fixed term contract for 6 months (maternity cover)
The University of Sussex Library offers an exciting opportunity to gain experience for a six month period working with the University's acclaimed
archival, manuscript and rare book collections (including the Mass-Observation Archive, the Rudyard Kipling papers and collections relating to
Virginia Woolf).
The successful candidate will provide cover during the maternity leave of the Assistant Archivist and will act as deputy to the Head of Special
Collections, performing the full range of archival duties, including managing the service on a day-to-day basis and taking responsibility for a small
staff team. This would be a chance for a recently qualified archivist or librarian to gain staff management experience and to work in a busy, lively
and well-used collection (see www.sussex.ac.uk/library/speccoll). The successful candidate must have a postgraduate qualification in library,
information science or archive management plus at least six months' experience in archival or library work.
