Dear Jacqui,
I'm afraid I'm not able to help with bullace for your teaching collection but, I thought I would just mention - out of interest, that the Prunus spinosa trees round here have an unprecedented quantity of fruit this year. Unlike in your region, the trees- at least in Oxfordshire - are blue with fruit!! So if you do need any seeds, let me know.

Subject: Prunus domstica/insititia stones/fruits[Scanned for viruses by
OA]
Dear British readers especially,
I am trying to collect reasonable numbers (20 or so each if poss but
any number would be useful) of a variety of Prunus domestica/insititia
type fruit stones for teaching purposes. I would be grateful for stones or
fruits (hence the main plea is to British workers rather than mainland
Europe due to Customs/Excise related issues) of bullace especially.
Bullace is rare up here in the north. Prunus spinosa is no problem
although, this year, is one of the few species to produce little fruit;
everything else is heavily laden.
I get the students measuring them, plotting the data and then thinking
(hopefully) about breeding, varieties, hybridisation as well as
morphology etc etc - it's at least largish material to deal with as I have
30+ students and rather fewer microscopes.
Any offerings, no matter their condition, gratefully received
Thanks,
Jacqui
