The Anthropology Department at Sussex is seeking to
make two permanent appointments for October 2003 or as
soon as possible thereafter. We are seeking
established scholars with an international reputation,
as well as promising candidates early in their
careers, who could complement and strengthen existing
areas of our collective expertise, in accordance with
our research strategy. Applications are invited from
anthropologists with specialisms in any area of
anthropology, but we are especially interested in
candidates with research interests in the politics of
culture, identity and difference (including race,
ethnicity and multicultural issues), in health and
medicine or in the anthropology of rights.
We intend also to appoint two lecturers on fixed term
contracts: one for two years, and one for one year,
starting in October 2003 (though an earlier start date
may be negotiated if required). These fixed term
appointments will be made with consideration of the
overall teaching needs and obligations of the
department. Duties may include teaching on
interdisciplinary courses.
