Communities Scotland (the executive agency which replaced Scottish Homes in November 2001) is looking for a statistician to work on the current Scottish House Condition Survey (SHCS) on a consultancy basis from January - October 2003.
The SHCS is Scotland's largest housing survey and this contract represents an excellent development opportunity for a degree qualified statistician who wishes to gain experience with complex datasets. We are looking initially for someone to support the acceptance testing of the social dataset: thereafter, the postholder will take a key role in the further processing and analysis of the data up to the production of the main survey report in October 2003.
As well as statistical knowledge the ideal candidate will have a meticulous and quality-oriented approach and will be able to fit well into an existing team of six. We use SPSS-X but experience with this package is not essential as full training will be provided (experience of at least one common statistical analysis package would, however, be an advantage). Although the hours required would be negotiable, the work would need to be done at our head offices in Haymarket, Edinburgh.
Interested parties should send a full CV with details of their availability and fee expectations as soon as possible to
Dr Dianne Millen
Survey Manager
