I'm not depressed. Think this title shows that some psychologists are not
very impressed by the maths contribution to psychology.
Think it is misleading to say that 'Statistics has always been a part of
Maths'. Statistics is about systematically produced information. Maths
can only develop theory if it operates on systematically produced
information.
Apart from sampling theory maths has not made much of a contribution about
dealing with systematically produced information. I would turn to my
social science colleagues, not mathematicians, to learn about, for example,
government statistics.
