We expect to advertise soon two full-time research posts, one for a data
manager and one for a medical statistician. Formal advertisement of these
is expected in end July/early August.

Cohort study of mortality and cancer incidence in Porton Down veterans
These two new posts are within an established research team working on an
epidemiological study of Porton Down veterans, funded by the Medical
Research Council. Successful candidates for both posts will be highly self-
motivated, able to work to tight deadlines, have good communication skills,
be good team-workers and will be able to travel elsewhere in Southern
England to work with data abstraction staff.
The data manager should have a relevant postgraduate qualification, at
least 3 years work experience with large complex databases, expertise in MS
Access, familiarity with basic data analysis software, and experience of
managing data abstraction staff.
The statistician should have a Master’s degree (or near completion) in
Medical Statistics (or similar) and experience with widely used statistical
and database packages.
The posts are based at the University’s Department of Public Health in
Headington, Oxford, with travel in the U.K.. They will be available
immediately and are funded for three years to September, 2006.
