The Clinical Trials Research Unit in the University of Auckland conducts
research concerned with the causes, prevention and treatment of common
diseases. A position has become available in the Biostatistics team, which
undertakes an interesting mix of statistical analyses and reporting in a
variety of health studies conducted both locally and internationally.
The position requires proven experience of modern statistical techniques,
such as survival analysis, mixed models and logistic regression using SAS
statistical software. The applicant will be expected to participate in study
design and data analyses of studies conducted within the Unit, and should
hold a higher degree in statistics, medical statistics or biostatistics.
The applicant should have appropriate statistical, computing and scientific
skills plus two to three years experience in a similar role. Previous
experience in clinical trials and epidemiology is desirable. Support will be
provided but the applicants must be motivated, self-disciplined with
systematic work habits and be comfortable working either independently or in
a team environment. The applicant must be able to demonstrate excellence in
written and verbal communication skills as the position will involve
conveying statistical information to non-statisticians.
