Immpact
Initiative for maternal mortality programme assessment
Each year an estimated 530,000 women die during pregnancy or childbirth.
Most deaths occur indeveloping countries and most are preventable.
The University of Aberdeen is co-ordinating a major new international
research programme - Initiative for Maternal Mortality Programme
Assessment (IMMPACT) - to strengthen the evidence-base for reducing
maternal mortality, working with partners across the developed
and developing world.
IMMPACT aims to achieve this goal through primary and secondary research,
conducted alongside major intervention strategies. This seven-year initiative
involves three core activities: methods development, programme evaluation,
and capacity strengthening.
The University of Aberdeen is now seeking highly motivated and ambitious
research scientists to join the largest multi-disciplinary team ever
assembled specifically to tackle the significant measurement challenges of
unsafe motherhood.
The posts give the opportunity to gain a high profile on a global stage,
through collaboration with major international agencies and national
governments, as well as with partner research institutions in developing
countries. All posts will be based in the University’s Dugald Baird Centre
for
Research on Women’s Health, the co-ordinating unit for IMMPACT.
