Unilever is one of the worlds largest consumer goods companies selling Home and
Personal Care and Foods products in over 150 countries. Every day, 150 million
people choose our products to feed their families and clean their homes. Our
key brands include Dove, Knorr, Lipton, Magnum, Omo and Cif.
We currently have vacancies in the Safety and Environmental Assurance Centre
(SEAC) at our North Beds site in the UK. This is a central resource providing
expertise and advice on safety and environment matters to Unilever's global
operations. SEAC has expert knowledge of hazard analysis and risk assessment
for products and processes.
WE are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated people with excellent
communication skills. We currently have two posts in the Risk Analysis group of
SEAC:
Senior statistician (Ref. 100928)
The jobholder requires both breadth and depth in Statistics and will be the key
technical expert. The jobholder should be capable of answering diverse
statistical questions, advising and mentoring others and should also facilitate
the development of new techniques and approaches. The role requires an MSc/PhD
in Statistics and at least 5 years experience (preferably more). Experience of
applying Bayesian techniques is essential. A high level of skill in statistical
computing is also highly desirable. Experience within a safety domain would be
an advantage.

The jobholder will work with microbiologists to develop and apply deterministic
and probabilistic models, which can either be used in specific risk assessments
or incorporated into design tools or decision support tools. The role requires
at least an MSc in a subject with a substantial mathematical/modelling

highly desirable. Skills in Monte Carlo and nonlinear modelling are essential,
as is a thorough understanding of microbiology.
