Lecturer / Research Fellow in Medical Statistics
Required to conduct research on malaria in Kenya. The KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Centre employs over 300 staff and has an international reputation for research on malaria. The post-holder will work on a number of research projects including clinical trials, descriptive studies of the epidemiology of malaria, community-based interventions and studies of basic science. There will also be opportunities to work on projects on other major infections being undertaken by the Centre. The post-holder will be employed by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and will be based full-time in Kilifi, Kenya.
We are looking for applicants with a post-graduate qualification in statistics, practical experience of working in medical statistics, and the ability to provide effective support for a large multidisciplinary research team. Experience in designing epidemiological studies, in data management and in the use of statistical and database software packages would be an advantage.
Salary will be on the Research Fellow/Lecturer scale and will range from £21,125 to £ 27,339, depending on qualifications and experience. Annual flights home, health insurance, local living allowances and housing in Kilifi will be provided. The initial appointment will be to 30th September 2005.
