Dear allstat Members,
I have some novice regression problems to ask. Since these are
about some scattered sectors, i do not expect to give all answers by one
person alone. If you are willing to help: please inform me about just
whatever part you know about (even if partially).
1. Can I use different scale of measurements in dependent or
independent variables? For example, can i use GDP in billions (which is
independent variable) and Educational expenditure funded by a country
(which is dependent variable)? Does this cause any problem? If yes, how can
I solve this problem other than changing scale of measurement of either
variable?
2. Can anyone provide me the "command" code's of MATLAB, Mini tab,
SPSS, STATISTICA, WINKS, Data-Plot, BMDP, R (NOT the menu or tool-bar
solution: I need command lines or macros - of ANY or all these statistical
packages - if exists) to solve the following basic simple regression problems:
a) How to enter data
b) How to plot a scatter diagram
c) How to fit a regression line
For Example here is a SAS example of "How to enter data by commands":
options nodate nocenter;
data bangladesh
input x y;
label x = 'GDP'
y = 'Education';
cards;
231 2731
259 3177
294 3346
;
run;
