Survival Models for Censored Point Processes: Treatments for Epilepsy
(Joint work with B J Cowling)
Dr Jane L Hutton
University of Warwick
In studies of recurrent events, information on a cohort over a period of
time is often available. However, the data might not be in a form which
allows simple analysis. We consider data which includes post-treatment
survival data for individuals experiencing recurrent events. Data on
each individual's event rate is also available, for example, as a count
of events in a known period. Standard survival analysis treats this
count as a covariate. We propose a non-homogeneous Poisson process, with
post-randomisation survival times modelled by exponential variables with
individual seizures rates modified by a treatment effect. Trials to
evaluate anti-epileptic drugs motivate and illustrate this approach.
