Position Title: Longitudinal/Multivariate Data Analyst
Job Location: Institute for the Study of Children, Families and Social
Issues (http://www.iscfsi.bbk.ac.uk), Birkbeck University of London.
We seek a data analyst to join the Institute for a term of no less than two
years to work collaboratively in analysing data from several longitudinal
studies being conducted in the UK, the USA and New Zealand, all following
children from birth onwards. (http://www.iscfsi.bbk.ac.uk/projects.asp).
The applicant should have a good degree or postgraduate qualification in
statistics or a subject with a high statistical content, and a minimum of
two years' experience applying statistics in a research environment. We
are looking for experience in several of the following: SEM, regression
analysis, cluster analysis, factor analysis, latent class analysis, and
multilevel modelling (HLM).
The largest project is the National Evaluation of Sure Start, designed to
assess the efficacy of a massive, community-oriented early intervention
programme targeted at 260 poor neighbourhoods throughout England and
involving thousands of young children and their families. Additionally,
data from other large-scale longitudinal studies are also available. The
person appointed would join a data analysis team of 3 who are part of a
larger research team of 50.
Salary would be dependent upon experience but would be on the Research
Officer II or III scale. The starting date is from September 2003 and is
negotiable.
