Salary Range: CSOF5-7 ($60,367 - $92,324)
Ref:03/C15
CSIRO is undertaking a collaborative project with the NSW Centre for
Agriculture Genomics in an exciting new area of applied bioinformatics. The
project involves the design and analysis of microarray experiments with the
ultimate aim of improving cereal crops. In the work to be performed by
CSIRO, a major initiative is the utilization of microarray technologies to
improve on the current understanding about crop and cereal genomics and to
assist with the identification of novel genes that are key to the
improvement of crop and cereal productivity, disease resistance, etc. The
success of this microarray initiative will depend heavily not only on the
availability of cutting edge microarray facilities, staff and researchers,
but also skilled statisticians and mathematical modellers to assist with
the development of new methodologies to assist with the analysis of these
new forms of data.
We are seeking to fill the position at one of three levels depending on the
candidate’s skills and level of experience. Relevant experience is
desirable but we will consider recent post-doctoral candidates with the
appropriate statistical and computational skills. The successful candidate
should have a strong research orientated background in statistical
methodology and an appreciation of applications, ideally in the biological
area.
