The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) is responsible for
distributing over £5billion each year for teaching and research in
universities and colleges in England.
The primary function of the Analytical Services Group (ASG) is to support
the Council's activities with data, facts and analysis. The group is
involved in a range of challenging and interesting projects. These include
developing, maintaining and operating the Council's funding models and
processes; and providing quantitative analysis, research and advice on
issues affecting higher education in England.
The successful applicant will be involved in processing and assessing data
returns from universities and colleges in England and preparing analyses,
reports and management information for monitoring and policy purposes.
Applicants should have at least a good first degree with a significant
mathematical content and an aptitude for quantitative analysis and
statistical programming. Experience of SAS or other relevant software would
be desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
