Title: "The Role of the Statistician in Manufacturing Industry"
Abstract:
"Quality and compliance are keywords in the manufacturing environment,
both in a regulated & non-regulated industries. The statistician's
role is to aid in the analysis and understanding of the process data
to ensure these we can increase the odds of making the correct
decision. Large quantities of data are collated from the
manufacturing process and laboratory testing (& non-manufacturing
areas). Statistical tools are utilised in a number of fields such as
investigations, optimisation and process modeling. The complexity and
variety of these techniques will be highlighted demonstrated using a
number of examples recently undertaken at GSK and the outcome shows
the key impact the statistical analysis has on process performance.
The impact of six sigma will also be discussed as a driver to the use
of statistical models in industry today."
