With cross posting apologies....
What is an "official" definition and etymological origin of the word
skedastic or is it skidastic? or scedastic?
I just tried to look this up and no size of hard copy dictionary I
have lists any of the spellings I can guess, nor is it in the index of
my meanest stat books.
I thought it was of Greek origin, meaning variation or variable or
random variable.
I thought it was applied to the concept of a population standard
deviation, as a replacement for 'standard deviation.' But now that
thought is being questioned.
So what does the word mean, anyway? Or did I mean 'stochastic'?
