LOCATION: Statistics & Computing Department, Forest Research, Alice Holt

PURPOSE: The Statistics and Computing Branch is responsible for the
provision of statistical, analyst/programming, IT and data processing
services within Forest Research and the successful candidate will play an
integral part in this provision. As a member of a small team of
statisticians you will work with researchers from areas such as entomology,
pathology and silviculture, giving statistical advice and providing analyses

QUALIFICATIONS: You will have a good degree or equivalent in Statistics or
related subject and preferably a post-graduate qualification in statistics.
EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES: You will have at least three years experience in
applying statistics, ideally in biological sciences with experience of data
handling and the use of a wide range of statistical methods.

SALARY: Starting salary will be in the range £20,780 to £27,600,dependant
on qualifications and experience. Further steps to the pay band maximum can
be attained within a relatively short timescale, subject to satisfactory
performance. A non-consolidated annual bonus is available for top
performers. The post attracts Civil Service Conditions of Service and
offers a choice of final salary and stakeholder pension, giving you the
flexibility to choose the pension that suits you the best.
