*** Please note : Closing date for applications: 21 February 2003***.
The Department of Psychiatry is recognised as an internationally leading
centre
of research in several aspects of psychiatry. In the most recent UK
Government
Research Assessment Exercises we achieved the best possible 5* rating
for the strength-in-depth of our research over the previous 5-year period.
The research goals of the Department are to combine neuroscientific
understanding of mechanisms for cognition and symptoms, with a broad
awareness of genetic and phenotypic variability in the population
over the course of the life-cycle.
We aim to bring together several key research disciplines to achieve this
strategy.
These include cognitive neuropsychology and neuroscience,
neuroimaging and brain mapping, developmentally-orientated epidemiology,
behavioural science and psychometric methodology,
and molecular genetics and neuropathology.
