Cancer Epidemiology Unit
TWO POSITIONS - EPIDEMIOLOGIST, BIOSTATISTICIAN
The Queensland Cancer Fund wishes to fill two unique and challenging
positions in its Cancer Epidemiology Unit in Brisbane, Australia.

The Queensland Cancer Fund (QCF) is a highly successful state-wide non-
government organisation dedicated to supporting and conducting research,
cancer surveillance and community programs to reduce the burden of cancer.
Our Cancer Epidemiology Unit conducts research in cancer causation,
prevention, screening and early detection, cancer management and outcomes.
It manages the Queensland Cancer Registry, a population register with close
to 20 years of cancer incidence and mortality data, under contract from
Queensland Health. The QCF has a well-established Community Services
Department which delivers state-wide cancer control programs and this year
it will establish a Unit for Behavioural Research in Cancer, thus bringing
together all the elements required for research and intervention in an
integrated approach to population-based cancer control.
The two advertised positions will be based in the QCF Cancer Epidemiology
Unit, in Brisbane, and will report to the Director of the Unit. Suitably
qualified applicants will have the opportunity for adjunct joint academic
appointments with our academic partners the Queensland University of
Technology and the University of Queensland.
SENIOR RESEARCH OFFICER/RESEARCH FELLOW/SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW IN
EPIDEMIOLOGY
We are seeking an Epidemiologist with interests and experience in cancer
epidemiology to coordinate a program of research and analysis on the
occurrence, causes and/or outcomes of cancer. The successful applicant
will develop original research proposals in population-based cancer
epidemiology; prepare grant applications to attract funding; oversee the
conduct and analysis of these projects and publish the results in
international scientific journals.
This is a full-time 5-year position with option for renewal subject to
performance. Salary range is $AUD 54,944 to $AUD 77,608 in line with
qualifications and experience. Additional benefits include 4 weeks annual
leave, leave loading, salary packaging and occupational superannuation
contributions. A contribution to relocation expenses will be negotiated.

SENIOR RESEARCH OFFICER/RESEARCH FELLOW/SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW IN
BIOSTATISTICS
We are seeking a Biostatistician with interests and experience in health
research to be an integral member of our research team. The successful
applicant will collaborate in and provide statistical support and analysis
for research programs in cancer epidemiology and cancer control. This will
include the design, conduct and reporting of descriptive and other
statistical analyses in population-based cancer epidemiology. The
successful applicant will collaborate in writing grants to attract funding
and will author high quality reports and scientific publications. The
conduct of independent research into statistical methodology for analysis
of epidemiologic data will be encouraged.
