Applications are invited for this post, funded for up to three years by
the UK Medical Research Council, to develop statistical methods for
modelling haplotype structure in the human genome and haplotype effects
on disease risk. This is part of a research collaboration with the
Institute of Child Health, studying the genetic basis of susceptibility
to epilepsy.
Applicants should have a strong background in statistics and
probability theory, specifically in the theory and application of
Bayesian approaches and Markov chain Monte Carlo methods. Programming
skills are essential, preferably with an object-oriented language. No
previous background in biology is necessary: there will be ample
opportunity to learn genetics during the course of the project.
The salary will be from £23,837 to £30,050 per annum inclusive,
according to qualifications and experience.
