Local Government Data Unit Wales
The Local Government Data Unit - Wales is a joint venture between the
Welsh Local Government Association and the National Assembly for Wales
and is based in the fast expanding Bay area of Cardiff. The Unit is
responsible for a broad range of projects relating to Local Government
data and wider information about communities in Wales. The Unit is also
involved in working closely with local authorities to support them in
good data management practice.
Established in April 2001, the Data Unit has quickly become a key player
in the area of Local Government data and information in Wales and has
taken on responsibility for delivering additional important and high
profile areas of work. Currently employing 25 staff the Data Unit is
expected to grow significantly over the next three to five years.
Our current Director is moving on to a new challenge and we are looking
for an energetic and enthusiastic professional who can build on the
success of the Data Unit so far and provide vision and leadership during
a challenging period encompassing consolidation, development and growth.
Director Salary in the range £ 51, 476 - £56, 562 *(currently under
review)
The role
To provide strong management and strategic vision in enabling the Data
Unit to meet its current aims and objectives, whilst orientating itself
to meet the challenges of the future.
The person
Will possess a degree or equivalent and have a proven track record of
achievement at a strategic level in a statistical or research capacity,
preferably in a local government or public sector setting.
Will be an inspirational leader and effective manager with highly
developed interpersonal and communication skills.
Remuneration within the salary scale above will be based on
qualification and experience.
*Following a review of the organisations salary structure the Board has
agreed to review the salary of the Director
