Biostatistics and Clinical Epidemiology
(with special emphasis on Health Care Quality Assessment)
at
Department of Statistics & Competence Center for Clinical Databases
University of Southern Denmark, Odense, Denmark
The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Southern Denmark
wishes to strengthen its research in Clinical Epidemiology,
especially with respect to Health Care Quality Assessment.
Therefore the Faculty has decided to establish in cooperation
with the University Hospital an interdisciplinary
Competence Center for Clinical Databases combining
expertise from clinical medicine, health informatics,
epidemiology and statistics. The new position will be attached to
both the Competence Center and the Department of Statistics.
The Competence Center hosts several nationwide, disease specific
databases covering all diagnosed patients, besides others on lung
cancer, epilepsy and neonatal prematurity complications. The
successful candidate should participate in the development
and implementation of strategies to use these data bases to
identify potential deficits in the Danish health care system
on the institutional level (league tables) as well as the patient
level (prognostic and predictive factors). The Department of
Statistics is a cross faculty department with specific strengths
in biostatistics and mathematical statistics. The successful candidate
should participate in the research activities, teaching and
consultant service of the biostatistics group at this Department.
Applicants at the assistant professor level should have a Ph.D. in
statistics, biostatistics or a related field. Applicants at the
associate professor level should have additional expertise in
a field with relevance for health care quality assessment or clinical
epidemiology. In any case applicants should have interest in working
both on the applied as well as the methodological side of biostatistics.
