Title: "Investigating links between adverse health outcomes and
environmental hazards: methods and problems"
Abstract:
"Investigations of associations between putative sources of pollution
and adverse health outcomes play an increasingly important role in
public health investigations. The talk will summarise some of the most
widely used methods and will discuss the likely validity of some of
the assumptions which are made in applying these techniques. There are
several major sources of bias which can affect such studies and these
will be discussed and illustrated with examples. The implications of
these biases for investigations into important public health issues
will be discussed."
