We seek outstanding candidates for both positions. The Professor will be
expected to lead teaching and research activities in Probability and the
Lecturer to play a full role in teaching and research in Statistics.
Current research in probability at Bath is centered around various aspects
of Brownian motion and the links with intersection exponents, branching
processes and financial mathematics.
Research in Statistics covers Bayesian parametric and nonparametric
inference, medical statistics, epidemiology, computational statistics and
simulation-based inference.
The Statistics Group currently comprises 10 full-time and 2 part-time
members of staff. A four year temporary lectureship is also in the process
of being filled.
Candidates for the Chair should have a proven research record in
probability or stochastic finance. For the lectureship, we particularly
encourage applicants who have recently obtained a PhD or who are expecting
to obtain a PhD by summer
2003.
The salary range for Lecturer Grade B is £26,270 - £33,679.
The minimum salary for Professors is £40,841.
