Thirteenth International Conference on Quantitative Methods for the
Environmental Sciences (TIES2003) is to be held at the Friendship Hotel in
Beijing on August 21 to 24, 2003. Details are available on the website at

The main theme for that conference is 'Quantifying How Our Environment
Affects Us'. This theme is being addressed by sessions that explore how
quantitative methods are being applied in areas such as climatology, water
quality & availability and in monitoring the ecosystem.
A feature is the incorporation of a field trip as part of the program. The
itinerary of this trip will include areas where environmental challenges are
being addressed near Beijing specifically Guan Ting Reservoir . The
itinerary includes the Great Wall of China.
