The course is intended for clinicians, researchers, public health
specialists and other health care professionals who have only a basic
understanding of epidemiology. Prior knowledge of basic medical
statistics (hypothesis testing and confidence intervals) is important.
Course covers: assessment of disease risk, epidemiological
study designs, in particular case control, cohort and ecological
studies, their strengths and weaknesses; measurement of disease risk;
confounding; causality.
All the short courses at the Department of Social Medicine are CME, CPD
