· Profile:
The candidate will develop her/his research and teaching activities within
the Institut de statistique, and this in the domaine of statistics and its
applications in econometrics. She/he will teach theoretical and/or applied
courses, and basic courses as well as advanced courses. She/he will
participate to the research activities of the Institute (PhD’s, seminars,
workshops, …) as well as to service type of activities (consultancy,
continuing education, …). The candidate will also develop scientific
collaborations with the econometricians of the Center for Operations
Research and Econometrics (CORE).

General conditions
1. Tasks : The applicant will
- be responsible for teaching courses at one (or several) of the
three study levels (i.e. undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate) ensured
by the Institut de statistique, as well as in programmes of continuing
education;
- supervise the final diploma work (i.e. master thesis) of graduate
students, as well as PhD theses;
- be involved in (and/or supervise, promote) research programmes.
2. Qualifications : the applicant will have
- a PhD degree in statistics or in economy (specialization
econometrics), and a solid basic education in probability and statistics.
- a significant scientific record proved by international publications;
- either studied abroad for an extensive period or had substantial
experience outside UCL ;
- experience and aptitude for teaching at university level;
- the capacities required to undertake academic research at a high
level and to advise, or lead, a research team;
- a good knowledge of both spoken and written French. If this is not
the case, the applicant should be ready to learn French within a
year. Fluency in English and other languages is an additional advantage.
3. Applications will contain the following documents, otherwise they will

- a full curriculum vitae
- a bibliography and abstracts of the more important publications
- a copy of the diploma of the final degree
- a text of about 3500 characters describing the research project
which the applicant wishes to carry out
- a text of about 3500 characters explaining the applicant's views on
teaching and the type of education that should be promoted.
- in addition, three letters of recommendation from internationally
renowned scientists should be sent to the rector of the UCL, before the
final date for submitting applications.
