Statistician (vacancy ref. 9750)
ALSPAC (Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children) is an ongoing
population-based study specifically designed to determine ways in which
genetic, environmental and other influences affect the health and
development of individuals. This unique study enrolled approximately 14,000
pregnancies between 1991 and 1992. The study links together information
from a variety of sources, including hands-on examinations of the children,
questionnaires completed by parents, health records, assays of biological
samples and specific measures of the environment in the home. This
extensive wealth of data together with the establishment of a DNA bank
makes this study an international resource. To date the study has published
over 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
The study unit is an MRC Co-operative Group and has also secured
substantial core funding from the Wellcome Trust. It also has an in-house
team of statisticians and researchers and a large number of external
collaborators from a variety of disciplines.
We are looking for an individual to join the existing team who will
primarily perform statistical analyses on the psychological side of the
study, as well as provide support for ALSPAC collaborators.
